The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) is a mandatory body that aims at providing an awareness to students & staff to prevent sexual harassment in college. Every educational institution in India, including colleges, must establish Internal Complaints Committee as per the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Supreme Court of India. The ICC of Siena College of Professional Studies is responsible for dealing with complaints of sexual harassment made by students, faculty members, or staff members.

ICC aims at creating a safe environment in the college, to prevent sexual harassment.

“Sexual Harassment” includes any one or more of the following unwelcome acts or behaviour:

▪ Physical contact or advances;

▪ A demand or request for sexual favours;

▪ Making sexually coloured remarks;

▪ Showing pornography;

It provides a platform for individuals to place complaints against any sexual abuses known. The committee investigates the complaints and takes appropriate actions.

The ICC is comprised of a group of members for handling complaints, which includes

  • receiving the complaint
  • conducting an inquiry
  • submitting a report of the findings to the college authorities.

The committee also ensures the confidentiality of the complainant throughout the process.
